Readings at the Great Mother Conference in Maine - June 6th
Robert Bly's 34th Annual Conference on the Great Mother and New Father will be held again at Camp Kieve near Nobleboro, ME. It runs from Saturday night, May 31st, until midday on Sunday, June 8th. The theme this year is "No Remedy But Listening." New and returning teachers include Coleman Barks, Caroline Casey. Gioia Timpanelli, Li-Young Lee, the Frantzick Brothers, Doug Von Koss, Sufi dance teachers, Halima and Abraham Sussman, dream workers/art teachers, Tom
Verner and Janet Fredericks, musicians Marcus Wide and David Whetstone, poets Marie Howe, Cornelius Eady, and Valzhyna Mort, and authentic movement teacher Susan Schell. Coleman will participate in the conference from Thursday, June 5th, through Saturday, June 7th. David Darling will also be part of the conference this year during the time that Coleman will be there. Galway Kinnell will probably give a reading on Friday night. Readings at the Geraldine Dodge Poetry Festival, Sept. 27-28, 2008, Waterloo, NJ - September 27th
The Dodge Poetry Festival is held every two years (on the even years) at a wonderful cluster of venues in Waterloo, NJ, about an hour and a half's drive from NYC. It is the largest poetry event in America. In 2008 the days of its happening will be Sept. 25-28th, Thursday through Sunday. Many poets will be featured, among them, Billy Collins, Ted Kooser, Lucille Clifton, Maxine Kumin, Naomi Nye, Charles Simic, and Franz Wright. Coleman's main readings will be on Saturday and Sunday mornings, 8 am, in the big tent, with musicians. There may also be a twenty minute reading with two other poets in one of the satellite venues, and his participation on a panel is also a possibility.
